Welcome to Aperture.

Living in our current dominant culture, one that rewards productivity, adherence, and personal sacrifice over physical and emotional wellness, can often push us to abandon pieces of ourselves to survive. While functional in the moment, these instances of abandonment can break vital connection. Connection to ourselves, our truth, and our relationship to others.

Navigating life, relationships, and systems can be painful. Finding your way through these things alone can lead to an amplification of pain, overwhelm, and stress. We interpret our reality and context through our own individualized lens. This lens is the filter through which we create meaning and understanding.

As with microscopic, telescopic, or camera lenses, it is the aperture that determines how much light is let in on a subject, what is pushed into the background, and what stays in focus through this lens. Therapy is a great tool that helps us build skills and shift paradigms to influence our own aperture; allowing us to sharpen the focus on our inherent wisdom and truth, while deconstructing harmful messaging we have all absorbed through dominant culture and our experiences.

My focus is to understand your lens: your unique and individual experience within your context. Your relationship to your sociopolitical, cultural, and systemic context will also help inform our work. Together, we will help you shape your aperture to navigate your experiences in the most supportive way. My aim is to join you, as we honor the strengths that have served you to this point while sorting out what may no longer be benefiting your life.
